Indian agent continues court case against A.P. Moller

Indian agent continues court case against A.P. Moller    RST India Pvt. Ltd., the former agent of Sea-Land Service in India, has applied to the High Court of Mumbai to hear its long-running claim against A.P. Moller, the parent company of Maersk Sealand, and other companies.
Dilip K. De, chairman and managing director of RST India, is suing both CSX Corp. — the former owner of Sea-Land — and A.P. Moller — the Danish group that acquired the international liner shipping business of Sea-Land in 1999.
RST India is claiming $49 million in damages.
The Indian company said that it has applied to the Mumbai court urging it to hear its case “on out of turn basis.” It also made several allegations of improper conduct against A.P. Moller.
“We do not comment on ongoing litigation to the press,” a spokesman for A.P. Moller told American Shipper.
The spokesman added: “All the various allegations made by the plaintiffs will be properly responded to in court. However, we do wish to mention that we do not file false affidavits despite plaintiffs’ allegations to the contrary. We are confident that a fair decision will be reached by the High Court in Mumbai and that all the defendants will prevail.”
RST India stopped acting as agent for Sea-Land in 1991, according to A.P. Moller.
