West Coast USCG district assigned new commander

West Coast USCG district assigned new commander Eleventh U.S. Coast Guard District commander Rear Adm. Jody Breckenridge has accepted a new post at Coast Guard headquarters in Washington.
   According to a notice sent to Coast Guard service members, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen asked Breckenridge to head the Commandant Intent Action Orders Implementation Team. The CIAO plan is an effort by the Coast Guard to reorganize operational forces, improve service and support systems, better align with departmental and interagency partners, and make logistics and financial systems more efficient and accountable.
   Breckenridge will stay on as Eleventh U.S. Coast Guard District commander, during a transition period. Relieving her will be Rear Adm. Craig Bone, who will take over as commander of the district from his present position as an assistant commandant at Coast Guard headquarters.
   The Eleventh Coast Guard District encompasses the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah, the coastal and offshore waters out more than 1,000 miles and the offshore waters of Mexico and Central America down to South America. Coast Guard operational units are located throughout California, with the District and Pacific Area headquarters located on Coast Guard Island in Alameda, along the east side of San Francisco Bay.
