Damco takes aims at South Asia pharma

   Third-party logistics services provider Damco said its South Asia operation is focusing on the pharmaceutical industry by offering “green” logistics in India.
   The company has started offering a Dynamic Flow Control tool which it says helps static supply chains evolve into “dynamic” systems with a focus on reducing carbon footprints. The company said it expects the system to save companies double-digit percentages on cost.
   Green logistic services typically focus on increasing efficiency by optimizing package sizes and materials or by increasing use of more efficient transport modes.
   In addition, Damco said it’s also looking into efforts around the absence of a single clearance authority, warehousing restrictions, and slow adoption of connectivity in pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
