White previously headed the MPA from January 1999 to March 2005, when he left to join the Ceres organization. He headed executive positions with the MPA for 12 years, serving as deputy executive director and director of operations. He began his maritime career with Puerto Rico Marine Management Inc. in 1975, where he rose to the position of general manager for North America.
In its announcement today, the port authority noted some of the key achievements while serving as MPA's director included development of a 20-year agreement with Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics to establish the Port of Baltimore as the shipping line's North Atlantic hub for roll-on/roll-off, automobiles and project cargo, as well as reaching long-term agreements with Evergreen, Amports, Mercedes, Mediterranean Shipping Co. and Atlantic Container Line.
