Seattle, Dalian ports sign green pact

Seattle, Dalian ports sign green pact The Port of Seattle and the Chinese Port of Dalian signed an agreement Monday calling for collaborate on development of new port practices.
   Under the program, the two ports will exchange information on the use of 'clean' energy sources to power terminal equipment, efficiencies in infrastructure and logistics, and hazardous spill procedures.
   The agreement grew out of cabinet level conversations between U.S. and Chinese officials called the Strategic Economic Dialogue.
   The federal level talks resulted in the June signing of the “Framework for 10 Year Cooperation on Energy and Environment” by the two governments. Part of this plan involved encouraging business, local government, educational institutions and nonprofit groups to establish 'sub-national' layers of relations with Chinese entities.
   Dalian, a northern China coastal city, shares many geographical similarities to Seattle.
