DB Schenker to expand European land network

DB Schenker to expand European land network    German logistics giant DB Schenker said Monday it will expand its services in European land transportation, and will offer customers a free trial run of many routes.
   'As part of a sales campaign focusing primarily on Southeast Europe, around 35,000 customers in over 20 countries will soon be directly informed of the services being offered,' the company said. 'They will also be able to test new routes free of charge.'
   The company didn’t release specific details about the expansion.
   “In many talks we have had with customers throughout Europe, we have established that, even in times of crisis, there is a demand for additional services and new solutions,' said Karl Nutzinger, chief executive officer of Europe for Schenker AG, in a statement. 'This is true for the growth markets in southeast Europe.
   DB Schenker, which operates in most European countries, said the new services will sprout from its new hub in Salzburg. The company has recently opened a new rail terminal in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has set up a less-than-truckload network in Romania.
