McLeod integrates project44 APIs for LTL

Chicago-based logistics technology provider project44 set up an integration with transportation management systems provider McLeod Software to enable application program interface connectivity to McLeod’s freight broker users.    The logistics technology provider project44 said Monday it has set up an integration with transportation management systems (TMS) provider McLeod Software to enable application programming interface (API) connectivity to McLeod’s freight broker users.
   APIs are an alternative system-to-system communication method to electronic data interchange (EDI), long the standard in the transportation and logistics industry.
   project44 acts as an API hub for shippers, brokers, carriers and TMS providers.
   McLeod provides TMS software, primarily to carriers and freight brokers.
   Through the partnership, which was announced at McLeod’s user conference this week, project44’s APIs to less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers will be available to users of the McLeod’s PowerBroker suite.
   “PowerBroker users will be able to access LTL carrier quotes, including base rates and accessorial charges, directly from those LTL carriers supplying information via the project44 network,” the company said. “This will include special customer specific pricing that a customer might receive. The integration will also support transit time calculations from the carriers, including weekend and holiday days.”
   In addition, PowerBroker LTL users will be able to use project44’s APIs to tender quotes and retrieve shipment status updates from the connected LTL carriers directly within the PowerBroker interface.
