Horizon Air agrees to contract extension with union pilots

Alaska Airlines subsidiary Horizon Air and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have reached a tentative agreement to amend their existing eight-year contract covering the company’s 620 pilots.    Horizon Air has agreed to a contract extension with its unionized pilots, the company said in a statement.
   The Alaska Airlines subsidiary and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) have reached a tentative agreement to amend their existing eight-year contract covering the company’s 620 pilots.
   Horizon Air and IBT ratified their existing contract in January 2016, and once ratified by the pilots, the amended deal will run concurrent with the current contract through December 2024.
   “I commend the negotiations team for their efforts to reach a deal that allows us to increase our pilot recruitment efforts and offer generous entry level wages for new first officers,” Brad Lambert, vice president of flight operations at Horizon Air, said of the agreement. “This deal will allow us to successfully compete for talent and grow our airline.”
