Jagged Peak expands same-day delivery

   Jagged Peak, a provider of e-commerce solutions and outbound supply chain services, has expanded its same-day order delivery service for its e-commerce clients.
   The company will also run the service through its FlexNet fulfillment network in Canada.
   The company said in the first week of its new service, one consumer packaged goods client had 12 percent of its Canadian e-commerce orders delivered the same day.
   “This is a remarkable stat,” said Jagged Peak Chief Operating Officer Dan Furlong. “We began offering same-day delivery in the U.S. last year, and we were equally pleased with the results. In New York City, all orders received by 4:00 p.m. are delivered to the customer by 7:00 p.m. that day.”
   FlexNet is Jagged Peak’s integrated warehouse network that operates on the EDGE e-commerce platform. It is essentially a combination of order, warehouse, and transportation management systems, available on a licensed or SaaS model.
   EDGE creates a list of optimized order fulfillment and delivery options by accessing real-time inventory availability and combining that with information around customer proximity to available warehouses.
   The EDGE system also looks at shipping options across multiple carriers and provides results that match a carrier’s time in transit to customer promised dates at the lowest cost. Furlong said the company has been successful in its goal to lower customer shipping costs while providing expedited services.
   “Same-day delivery is becoming the new differentiator in e-commerce order fulfillment,” he said.
