Asian airlines post decline in February freight volumes

The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines attributed the decrease to the weakness in global trade volumes, along with the Lunar New Year seasonal slowdown in factory operations in the region.    Preliminary figures from the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines indicate member airlines moved 12.1 percent less freight in February compared to the same month a year ago.

   In addition, the average international freight load factor for member airlines in February declined 8.6 percent year-over-year to 56.8 percent, while offered freight capacity inched up 1.3 percent from February 2015.
   The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines is the trade association for scheduled international airlines based in the Asia-Pacific region, which represent 40 percent of global air cargo traffic. Its members include Air Astana, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Dragonair, EVA Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways International.
