Maersk slows WAF13, adds Conakry

   The ocean carrier Maersk Line has added a new port call at Conakry, Guinea, and two additional vessels to its weekly WAF13 service between hub ports in the West Mediterranean and West Africa.  
   Roundtrip voyage time on the WAF13 has increased from 14 days to 28 days, and transit times northbound have been increased by two weeks, now taking 21 days between Dakar, Senegal and Maersk’s West-Mediterranean hubs in Tangiers and Algeciras. 
   The revised rotation of the WAF13 loop is Algeciras, Tangiers, Dakar, Conakry, and Algeciras. The service is currently operated with four Maersk vessels with an average capacity of 2,491 TEUs. Subsidiary Safmarine continues to take slots on the WAF13. 
   Maersk operates 10 other similar direct weekly services between Algeciras/Tangiers and West Africa, the WAF1, WAF2, WAF3, WAF5, WAF6, WAF7, WAF8, WAF9, WAF10, and WAF11. Of them, the WAF10 similarly calls Conakry and, in addition, the carrier’s South Africa-Europe 225 service calls Dakar northbound en route to Algeciras and Tangiers with a relatively fast transit from Dakar of four days. – ComPair Data, Ben Meyer
