project44 partners with MacroPoint on freight tracking

The companies have integrated their freight industry API platform and third-party load tracking software integrate to provide project44 customers with real-time status capability.    The freight tracking software provider MacroPoint this week said it has integrated with project44, a provider of web-service application program interfaces for the freight industry.
   MacroPoint’s software is designed to give shippers and logistics providers visibility into third-party loads by tracking the location of a driver’s mobile phone, including flip phones, or existing in-cab electronic logging or GPS devices.
   The integration with project44’s API connectivity technology gives project44’s web service customers access to MacroPoint’s location-specific freight tracking capabilities on less–than-truckload (LTL) shipments.
   “This new integration with MacroPoint makes it possible for our shipper, 3PL and brokerage clients to connect a more robust, single source of end-to-end, granular and actionable shipping data into their IT platforms,” said Wally Ibrahim, chief technology officer and co-founder of project44.
   project44 acts as a connectivity hub linking shippers and carriers through APIs, a more flexible and interactive communication format than electronic data interchange. Carriers’ separate APIs are routed through project 44 and delivered to a shipper’s TMS in a standard format. And when a certain carrier’s API is set up through Project 44 for a certain shipper, it becomes available to any other shipper that uses project 44.
