The latest certification approvals issued by Cargo 2000’s audit committee takes to 17 the number of airlines and freight forwarders that have reached the first implementation milestone, WHICH focuses on controlling the airport-to-airport cycle at Master Waybill level.
The four members and the sites accredited for phase one are:
* Air Canada, London, Montreal and Paris.
* Alitalita, Frankfurt, London, New York, Rome and Tokyo.
* Baltrans, Hong Kong and New York.
* United Airlines, Chicago, London and Tokyo.
The implementation program requires Cargo 2000 members to gain phase one accreditation for at least one major site by the end of 2001. These initial quality processes automatically create a plan once a booking is made that includes a series of checkpoints against which all air cargo movements are managed and measured.
“We expect all members to achieve the end of the year deadline. Significant progress is also starting toward the next stage of implementation, which addresses door-to-door deliveries at house waybill level,” said Ron Cesana, project director of Cargo 2000.
Once phase one accreditation has been achieved, members will progressively adopt these new quality processes across their worldwide networks and will be subject to a new Cargo 2000 audit every six months.
