DP World appoints IT specialist

DP World appoints IT specialist Global terminal operator Dubai Ports World has appointed Adam Adshead to head the development of its terminal operating system project known as ISIS (integrated stevedoring information system).
   Adshead has 24 years experience in IT development projects and most recently worked with Channel 4 Television in the United Kingdom. He also has experience in the shipping industry having started his career with P&O.
   'Adam's experience as an innovator, as a technology leader and as a project manager we believe will help accelerate the ISIS project, which is currently being piloted in our flagship Jebel Ali terminal,' said Mohammed Al Muallem, DP World's senior vice president and managing director, UAE region. 'Ultimately, we expect ISIS to be developed as a home-grown terminal operating system that DP World will implement across all our terminals allowing us to offer our customers high visibility and cargo management across our portfolio.'
   Adshead will be based in Dubai, reporting directly to Muallem.
   In 2006, DP World handled about 42 million TEUs across its 51 terminals in 24 countries.
