Ritco says Air 7 Seas is a non-vessel-operating common carrier with which it booked 10 containers to be shipped to New Delhi, and that the destination was verified on the house bill of lading. But Ritco says under the master bill of lading the destination was changed to Nhava Sheva, a port 837 miles away and as a result was forced to pay demurrage and detention charges.
Ritco is asking for an award of $61,618. The proceeding has been assigned to the FMC's Office of Administrative Law Judges.
