Former FAA administrator joins A4A

   Aviation trade group Airlines for America has tapped Dan Elwell as senior vice president of safety, security and operations.
   In his new role, which begins Feb. 1, Elwell will work with government agencies on security issues.
   Elwell previously served as assistant administrator for aviation policy, planning and environment at the Federal Aviation Administration. He also worked as the head of government affairs at American Airlines.
   “I am pleased to join a very dynamic team at A4A, which is clearly focused on addressing the infrastructure, regulatory and tax changes needed to improve the flying experience for customers and shippers,” Elwell said in a statement. “I look forward to leveraging my career in the airline industry to continue to improve what is today our safest mode of transportation.”
