Concor looking for partners to widen logistics capabilities The Container Corp. of India is searching for global forwarding and vessel operator partners with which it can mesh its inland network of container depots and freight stations, the Economic Times reported Thursday.
   State-owned Concor is by far India’s largest operator of freight trains, with roughly 95 percent market share of containers moved by rail. Private operators are expected to close in, with the government in 2006 granting licenses to private companies to operate their own services on Indian Railways tracks. Last year, several foreign companies and a handful of domestic ones took up the offer.
   Meanwhile, Concor has been busy trying to consolidate its position at the top by taking a more holistic view of logistics, developing inland container depots near India’s biggest metropolitan areas and emerging cities, while constructing container freight stations near ports.
   The Economic Times report said Concor is specifically looking for feeder vessel operators.
   “The idea behind this endeavor is to involve shipping companies in our logistical network of ICDs and CFSs, so that we can provide end-to-end solutions,” Concor Managing Director Rakesh Mehrotra told media in India.
