MITSUI O.S.K. LINES CREATES ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

MITSUI O.S.K. LINES CREATES ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM    Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. on Monday said it has created an environmental management system, MOL EMS 21, designed to reinforce MOL's environmental protection activities.
   MOL EMS 21, which became effective April 1, is based on a continuous improvement method of “plan-do-check-action,” which is outlines in ISO 14001.
   The environmental plan will focus on protecting marine environment, prevent air pollution, energy conservation and waste reduction, social contributions and in-house environmental training.
   Earlier MOL environmental efforts include creation of an environmental team, creating an environmental policy statement, and issuing the first environmental report by a Japanese shipping company.
