Protest against Zim in Oakland    Press reports say several hundred protesters succeeded in convincing longshoremen in Oakland not to work on Sunday in a demonstration aimed at Israel-based Zim Line, because of the Israel’s attack on March 31 on the Mavi Mamara, part of a flotilla of ships bringing goods to the Palestinian territory of Gaza.

   Reports in the Oakland Tribune and on the activist Web site IndyBay said pickets succeeded in convincing longshoremen Sunday morning not to cross a picket line to work at berths 57-59 at a terminal operated by SSA.
   The Oakland Tribune said the Zim Line ship did not arrive until late afternoon. It said the lack of longshoremen prevented a Chinese ship from being worked during the day, and that SSA had not ordered workers for the evening shift.
   Organizers said they were seeking to prevent the ship from being unloaded for 24 hours, so it was not clear if the protest would continue Monday.
