Bargteil receives prestigious NCBFAA award

   Kenneth Bargteil, well respected within customs compliance circles for his deep knowledge of the industry and regulatory affairs in Washington, has been honored with the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America’s 2013 Centurion Award.
   Bargteil, a tireless advocate for the customs brokerage industry and interlocutor with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is a vice president with freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel in Baltimore.
   Bargteil is the chairman of the NCBFAA’s Educational Institute and spent 10 years as chairman of its Customs Committee. He also has served eight years on NCBFAA’s board. For more than a decade he has helped put together the NCBFAA’s annual conference, and leads the NCBFAA delegation at meetings of CBP’s Trade Support Network, where he serves as a trade ambassador and on various committees.
   “Though his employer is a large broker/forwarder, Ken champions all industry participants including small and medium-sized firms, actively soliciting thoughtful input from everyone involved in addressing an issue,” NCBFAA President Darrell Sekin said. “Whenever deliberating an NCBFAA response to regulatory proposals or political initiatives, Ken remains sensitive to, and seeks to mitigate, the effect that such actions might have on not only his firm but also on the Association’s small and medium sized member firms.”
   Bargteil will be presented the Centurion Award at the association’s conference in Rancho Mirage, Calif., next month. – Eric Kulisch
