Horizon Logistics sold to Logistics Plus    Horizon Lines has sold its Horizon Logistics business to Logistics Plus of Erie, Pa.
   Horizon indicated in February that it planned to exit the business, and a spokesman said the subsidiary had been unprofitable to Horizon.
   'We have been looking for the right opportunity to broaden our service offerings, and we believe we found the right avenue to do so with Horizon Logistics,” said Jim Berlin, chief executive officer of Logistics Plus.
   Art Whelan, a senior vice president of Logistics Plus, said the deal was completed last month and about 30 Horizon employees have joined Logistics Plus. The deal includes Horizon warehouses, terminals and offices in Irving, Texas, and Lexington, N.C.
   “The Horizon employees joining our team are a great cultural fit, and of the same customer-centric mindset that we are noted for in our business. We absolutely will continue providing great service to Horizon Logistics customers and we expect this transition to be smooth and seamless,' Berlin said.
   With about 250 employees in 18 countries, Logistics Plus' portfolio of services include international ocean transportation, air freight forwarding, intermodal transportation management, distribution, warehousing and fulfillment, trucking and expedited delivery.
