Conference to focus on global customs partnerships

Conference to focus on global customs partnerships    Customs and industry officials from North America, Europe and Asia will gather in Chicago July 13-14 for the first conference on “The Globalization of Customs and Trade Compliance: Automation, International Standardization and Supply Chain Security.”
   The conference will cover best practices in customs compliance, trade facilitation opportunities and trends in multilateral cooperation on customs and border security.
   Speakers include Huang Sheng Qian of China Customs; Karl Reidl, director of international trade for Robert Bosch Corp.; Michael Lux, head of customs legislation for the European Union; Kevin Smith, director of customs for General Motors; Michael Laden, principal, Trade Innovations consulting group, who previously headed Target Customs Brokers; Rocio Ruiz Chavez, undersecretary of industry and commerce, Mexican Ministry of the Economy; and Michael Mullen, director of trade relations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
   The conference is sponsored by the International Compliance Professionals Association, Chicago-based MIC Logistics Corp. and Gardner Carton & Douglas LLP, which is hosting the conference at its office.
