ITC hammers China for dumping nails on U.S. market

ITC hammers China for dumping nails on U.S. market    The U.S. International Trade Commission unanimously ruled July 9 that U.S. industry is materially injured by imports of certain steel nails from China that the Commerce Department determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value.
As a result of the ITC’s affirmative determination, the Commerce Department will issue an antidumping duty order on imports of this product from China. The order will not apply to nail imports from China prior to Jan. 23.
The antidumping petition was initiated by Davis Wire Corp., Irwindale, Calif.; Gerdau Ameristeel Corp., Tampa, Fla.; Maze Nails, Peru, Ill.; Mid Continent Nail Corp., Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Treasure Coast Fasteners, Fort Pierce, Fla.; and the U.S. Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union.
For more detail about the decision and a complete list of the types of effected nails, obtain a copy of the ITC’s public report Certain Steel Nails from China (Investigation No. 731-TA-1114, Publication 4022, July 2008) through Web site: www.usitc.gov.
