Maritime task force gives policy tips to Danish government

The task force, comprised of shipping CEOs and union reps, formalized 11 key policy goals to enhance the country’s maritime sector.    The Danish Shipowners’ Association said a task force within the Danish government has presented a series of concrete proposals to enhance the competitive framework for the country’s maritime industry.
   The maritime task force presented its policy recommendations to the Danish Minister of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, this week.
   The Danish Shipowners’ Association said the minister welcomed the proposals. “They will form a strong foundation for considerations regarding future growth in the maritime sector in order to attract maritime businesses and ship owners to Denmark,” Mikkelsen said. “The recommendations from the Maritime Strategy Team is a great starting point for our work with a new maritime growth plan – a plan that will help to maintain and develop the international competitiveness of maritime industry. This is important for the creation of jobs and economic growth in Denmark.”
   The task force comprises of shipping CEOs and union representatives who set an ambitious starting point, according to Danish Shipowners’ Association Director General Anne H. Steffensen.
   Political negotiations on the Danish government’s maritime actions are expected to formalize later this year.
   The recommendations provided by the task force comprise 11 main points that vary from digitalization and maritime cooperation to tax schemes and investment capital.
