Aktiv launches insurance products for Chinese freight forwarders

Aktiv launches insurance products for Chinese freight forwarders German insurance broker, Aktiv Group, has launched a Multimodal Cover Policy and a Freight Payment Bond for China’s freight forwarding sector, targeting small-to-medium sized companies.
   The two products were launched at a conference in Xiamen today by the China Logistics Club, a forum for smaller freight forwarding and logistics companies, which has also been appointed as a sales agent by Aktiv.
   The Freight Payment Bond provides cover against outstanding freight costs due to bankrupt agents, while the Multimodal Cover Policy provides a comprehensive coverage against manifold liability such as the Montreal and Warsaw Conventions and Hague Visby Rules and other international transport conventions for sea and air freight. The policy also includes legal defense costs such as lawyers’ fees.
   “Aktiv has introduced cost effective liability cover for the forwarding community in China. It is important that small companies understand the risks involved in freight forwarding and ensure they have adequate liability cover in order to protect their business interests,” said Thomas Gutruf, executive director for Aktiv in Asia.
