OOCL gets two new vessels

OOCL gets two new vessels    Hong Kong-based ocean carrier OOCL said Friday it has taken delivery of two new containerships from the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard on Geoje island, Korea.
   The 8,063-TEU OOCL Washington will be deployed on the Loop C service operated by the Grand Alliance carriers between Asia and Europe. The service will now be operated with 10 ships (all provided by OOCL) with an average size of 7,800 TEUs. Zim is a slot buyer on the service.
   The 4,578-TEU OOCL Le Havre will be deployed on the China India Express (CIX) service, joining five APL ships on the service. American Shipper reported today that this service will now begin slow steaming with the addition of the sixth vessel.
   The OOCL Washington is the 13th SX class vessel (8,063 TEUs) in an order of 16, while the OOCL Le Havre is also the 13th Panamax class vessel in OOCL's line of 16 4,500-TEU vessels.
