Yusen Logistics launches LCL service from Nansha

The new less-than-containerload consolidation service will primarily target the growing automotive parts industry.    Yusen Logistics (China) Co., Ltd. has launched a new direct less-than-containerload (LCL) consolidation service from Nansha, China to Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan.
   The Tokyo-based company said in a statement the new service is the first from the Guangzhou area for a Japanese logistics company. “The service is a direct response to the increasing demand for high-frequency, small-lot transportation – primarily driven by the growth of the automotive parts industry,” said Yusen.
   Previously, ocean freight from the Guangzhou area was sent first to Hong Kong by feeder ships, and then loaded on to primary transportation vessels before being shipped to Japan. With freight being loaded at Nansha Container Freight Station and shipped directly to Japan, transit times for LCL cargo have been reduced from around 15 days to around 10 days.
   The new LCL service has also decreased the possibility of cargo damage since cargo will only have to be loaded and unloaded once.
