BA Cargo 1st quarter revenue up 34.6%

BA Cargo 1st quarter revenue up 34.6%    British Airways World Cargo reported commercial revenue of '175 million for the fiscal year first quarter.
   That's a 36.7 percent improvement over the same period last year, and a 34.6 increase after excluding the impact of favorable exchange rate movements.
   The airline had volume of 1.1 million cargo ton kilometers for the quarter ending May 30, a 2.1 percent increase over the first quarter in 2009. Cargo capacity fell 4.7 percent while yield increased 33.9 percent.
   BA did not release profit or loss details.
   'These results illustrate a strong start to the year by British Airways World Cargo, as we continue to see improved underlying price improvements and a robust performance by our premium products, with performance remaining particularly resilient in key markets across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific,' said Rachel Izzard, financial controller of BA World Cargo. 'It is important to note that this quarter was subject to schedule disruptions. However, our freighters, trucking network and flexible scheduling arrangements meant we were able to minimize the impact of the disruption to our customers.'
