Effective Jan. 1, the conference carriers intend to raise rates 150 euros ($199) or '100 per 20-foot container, 270 euros ($358) or '180 per 40-foot box and 5 euros (about $6) or '3.40 per freight ton for conventional cargo.
EWATA carriers also intend to implement further rate increases on July. 1 and Oct. 1.
EWATA members are Delmas and its affiliate OT Africa Line, Maersk Sealand and sister company Safmarine, and Nile Dutch Africa Line.
