SCS buys England Logistics’ forwarding unit

   Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) has purchased England Logistics’ freight forwarding business for an undisclosed amount.
   With the acquisition, SCS adds offices in Ningbo, Shanghai and Qingdao, China; and Los Angeles to its current locations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Virginia. According to Les Brand, SCS’ chief executive officer, the new locations give the company a strong push forward toward expanding its brand internationally. 
   “Our vision for SCS is creating best-in-class global transportation management solutions for small- and mid-market businesses that offer value-differentiated engineered solutions to support efficient supply chain deployment,” he said in a statement. “Our goal is to provide international logistics to simplify complex solutions and empower customer success, and we look forward to a long and rewarding business partnership with England Logistics and its customers.”
   As a forwarder and customs broker, SCS will now offer supply chain technology tools, compliance support and a host of other products to customers worldwide.
   England Logistics’ Jim Monkmeyer added the transaction allows his company to focus on domestic logistics services, while SCS tackles the international side of things.
