Online ELD marketplace launched

Six electronic logging device (ELD) providers are partnering with the website truckstop.com on a new ELD marketplace to connect drivers, carriers, and fleets with ELD providers to suit their needs in advance of the December ELD mandate implementation date.    Companies looking to comply with the Dec. 18 federal mandate for installation of electronic logging devices (ELDs) now have a new option they can explore.
   Six electronic logging device providers are partnering with the website truckstop.com, which acts as a connection between North America transportation professionals, on a new ELD marketplace to connect drivers, carriers, and fleets with ELD providers that suit their needs.
   The list of vetted providers currently includes Glostone Trucking Solutions, GeoTab reseller that has served the trucking industry since 1996, offering complete truck licensing, safety, fuel tax reporting, telematics and managed ELD services, accounting, driver training, and DOT compliance solutions.
   Truckstop.com said it selected Glostone as a preferred vendor based on their solid ELD platform with GeoTab as well as their track record in aiding carrier compliance within the trucking industry.
GeoTab’s ELD is month to month, no contract, and customizable with applications allowing users to build a basic ELD platform that can grow as needs change.
   Also included in the marketplace is GPS Insight, which offers tailored telematics solutions for customers. Truckstop.com says it selected GPS Insight to join the list of vendors on the marketplace because of their knowledge of telematics, the company’s pace of growth, and solid ELD solution.
   Another vendor on the site is HOS-Reporter, which provides HOS Reporter Pro, which provides e-logs both automatic on-board recording devices and ELD; electronic vehicle inspection reports; and automated International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) data logging.
   JJ Keller, which offers a suite of electronic solutions, was also chosen. The company provides companies a full range of services, according to truckstop.com, including ELD technology, start-up assistance and data management.
   Also announced as a participant was KeepTruckin, an Android and iOS based electronic logging solution trusted by more than 27,000 fleets and 500,000 drivers. Truckstop.com said it choose KeepTruckin’s ELD solution due to its easy-to-use driver experience, 24/7 support and reliability.
   The last of the initial companies listed on the site is Omnitracs, LLC, which delivers software-as-a-service-based solutions to more than 12,000 customers manage nearly 1,100,000 assets in more than 70 countries.
   “The company pioneered the use of commercial vehicle telematics in 1988 and serves today as a powerhouse of innovative, intuitive fleet management technologies,” truckstop.com said in a statement. “Truckstop.com chose Omnitracs because of their longevity and reputation within the industry.”
   Truckstop.com’s CEO, Paris Cole explained the creation of the marketplace by saying that “as a trusted partner” to the transportation industry, the company felt it was important to provide the ELD marketplace.
   “There are many ELD providers in the industry, but to participate in our marketplace we selected only those companies whose products and services met our stringent requirements,” Cole said. “We believe that these companies will be able to help customers not only maintain compliance with the ELD mandate but also improve their efficiency and profitability over the long-term.” 
   “We wanted to remove the murkiness around the vast number of vendors that seemingly popped up overnight,” Truckstop.com General Manager of Mobile Application Solutions Thayne Boren said. “We understand how busy drivers and carriers are and we wanted to provide them with vetted solutions from industry leaders.”
