Jettainer, Swiss WorldCargo extend partnership    Swiss WorldCargo, the air cargo division of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., and Jettainer are extending their management agreement for unit load devices (ULDs), or air cargo containers and pallets, another five years.
   Jettainer said it is the leading international service provider for outsourced ULD management with 70,000 managed containers and pallets in use by 11 customers. The company said the agreement terms “provide Swiss WorldCargo with significantly enhanced flexibility to adapt the ULD fleet size to demand. This enables the carrier to quickly reduce expenses when cargo volumes decline yet ensures that additional ULDs are available when warranted by customer demand.”
   The new arrangement provides Jettainer with increased opportunities to cross utilize ULDs allocated to Swiss with other customer airlines, resulting in higher asset productivity, reduced costs and additional earning potentials.
   Besides Swiss International Airlines, Jettainer customers include Air Astana, Air One, Condor, Leisure Cargo, Lufthansa, United Airlines and US Airways. The primary shareholders of Jettainer are mobile asset management company TrenStar Inc., from Denver, Colo., and Lufthansa Cargo, one of the world's largest international air freight carriers, based in Frankfurt, Germany. Jettainer is headquartered in Raunheim, Germany.
