Ryder restructures supply chain business

Ryder restructures supply chain business Ryder System Inc. said Friday it plans to combine its U.S. and international supply chain business units to form a single, integrated organization that will provide global service to shippers.
Vicki O’Meara, president of U.S. Supply Chain Solutions, opted to leave the company as a result of the restructuring, the Miami-based transportation and logistics services provider said. O’Meara spent 10 years at Ryder, where she also was executive vice president of corporate operations and general counsel.
The consolidated structure will pull together expertise, resources and management processes to serve customers around the world.
The move follows an interim initiative last year to integrate expertise and resources from various units and operations across four continents to better collaborate on accounts with global service needs.
“Vicki has made significant contributions to Ryder’s progress in each of her diverse roles over the past 10 years, and was instrumental in initiating global account management within our Supply Chain Solutions business,” said Greg Swienton, Ryder’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Swienton will assume responsibility of the new Global Supply Chain Solutions organization while the company conducts an internal and external search for candidates to lead it.
Tom Jones, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Supply Chain Solutions, will replace O’Meara on an interim basis to manage the operation. Dave Bouchard will continue to lead Ryder’s international supply chain services unit.
