Costamare: 8,800-TEU newbuilds for Evergreen

Costamare: 8,800-TEU newbuilds for Evergreen    Containership leasing company Costamare said it has ordered five containerships, each about 8,800 TEUs of capacity, from Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. of Korea.
   It said it has entered into long-term time charter agreements with members of the Evergreen Group for the employment of each vessel immediately upon delivery, which are expected during the first three quarters of 2013.
   Evergreen could not be reached immediately to confirm the report.
   Last week Evergreen Group ordered and signed a contract with China Shipbuilding Corp. for 10 8,000-TEU L-class containerships. Last year Evergreen ordered 20 of the L-class ships from Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.
