CKYH cuts 4 Asia-Europe sailings over next month

   Individual member carriers of the CKYH Alliance will skip four sailings on three separate Asia-Europe services over the next month in an effort to rationalize capacity, CKYH member COSCO Container Lines said this week.
   The carriers will drop the July 25 and Aug. 15 sailings of their NE4 service to Northern Europe, the Aug. 4 sailing of the NE1 service to Northern Europe, and the Aug. 4 sailing of the MD1 service to the Mediterranean.
   The NE4 service has a rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Singapore, Yantian, Kaohsiung, and Ningbo. It’s operated with 10 vessels (five each from Yang Ming and “K” Line) with an average capacity of 6,355 TEUs, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.
   The NE1 service has a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Nansha, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Singapore, Yantian, and Shanghai. It’s operated with nine COSCO vessels, with an average capacity of 10,522 TEUs. Aside from the other CKYH members, Evergreen Line and PIL take slots on the service.
   The MD1 service has a rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Hong Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Piraeus, La Spezia, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Piraeus, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Qingdao. The service is operated with nine vessels (five from Hanjin and four from COSCO) with an average capacity of 8,721 TEUs. Evergreen and China Shipping take slots on the service. – Eric Johnson
