CMA CGM, China Shipping streamlining Asia/U.S. East Coast service

CMA CGM, China Shipping streamlining Asia/U.S. East Coast service CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines are dropping ports and a ship from their joint weekly Asia/U.S. East Coast PEX 1/AAE 1 service.
   The service will no longer call at Xiamen in China, Manzanillo, Panama, Kingston in Jamaica or Norfolk, Va., enabling it to reduce from nine to eight ships averaging about 4,200 TEUs. At the same time, the service will make New York its first U.S. inbound call instead of Miami.
   The revised rotation of the loop is Busan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yantian, New York, Savannah, Miami and back to Busan.
   ANL Container Line, the Australian subsidiary of CMA CGM, takes slots on the PEX 1/AAE 1.
   Meanwhile, the lost call at Norfolk will be picked up on CMA CGM’s PEX 3 loop, which China Shipping takes slots. The new itinerary of the PEX 3 will be Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Houston, Savannah, Norfolk and Shanghai. The service is phasing in new Panamax ships of nearly 5,100 TEUs.
