Kazakhstan ag minister goes to Washington Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister Akhmetzhan Yesimov met with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns in Washington Wednesday in an effort to continue strengthening agricultural activities between the countries.
   Improved trade in agricultural products was among the topics discussed at the meeting, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture press release. The meeting builds upon Johanns' U.S. Trade and Investment Mission to Kazakhstan in July 2006.
   The U.S. government agreed to provide market-oriented agricultural training to Kazakhstan under the Cochran Fellowship Program, and training on the future World Trade Organization sanitary and phytosanitary obligations.
   In addition, two Kazakhstani officials will participate in the USDA Global Conference on Agriculture-Based Biofuels scheduled for Aug. 20-22 in Minneapolis.
