Emirates SkyCargo launches new perishables solutions

The airline introduced a suite of solutions, consisting of three separate levels, designed to maintain the freshness of perishables and consumables during transport.    Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has launched a suite of solutions designed to maintain the freshness of perishables and consumables during transport, the company said.
   The suite includes three levels: Emirates SkyFresh, Emirates SkyFresh Breathe and Emirate SkyFresh Active.
   Each solution provides varied levels of cool chain protection based on the kinds of perishables being shipped.
   The basic solution, Emirates SkyFresh, is aimed at temperature-tolerant fruits and vegetables, while Emirates SkyFresh Breathe is geared towards sensitive perishables, such as flowers and fresh fish. Meanwhile, Emirates SkyFresh Active offers the highest protection for perishables that require specialized temperature-controlled containers during transport.
   The SkyFresh suite utilizes infrastructure at the Emirates hub in Dubai, including freighter aircraft and the new Ventilated Cool Dolly, which can carry up to 16 metric tons, maintaining a constant temperature and providing ventilation.
   Emirates SkyCargo shipped almost 400,000 metric tons of perishable goods last year, utilizing 259 wide-bodied aircraft, including 15 freighters and the company’s 25,000-square-meter, temperature-controlled storage facilities at Dubai World Central and Dubai International Airport.
