Germanischer Lloyd moves Scandinavia office to Copenhagen Germanischer Lloyd has moved its Scandinavia area office from Stockholm in Sweden to Copenhagen, Denmark.
   The German classification society said the switch was made in order to be closer to its customers, saying that Danish shipping in particular has experienced unprecedented growth. The Danish Shipowners’ Association expects fleet size, newbuilding orders, revenue and earnings growth of 50 percent over the next five years.
   “Most customers in the Area Scandinavia are located in Denmark. This location really is just a stone’s throw away from our head office in Hamburg. We will therefore be able to cut down reaction and processing time considerably,” said Rainer Gutzmer, GL’s area manager, Scandinavia.
   Germanischer Lloyd Scandinavia offers a range of maritime services and coordinates tasks with the industrial services department. Ten employees are based permanently in Copenhagen. In Scandinavia, more than 45 surveyors are working for GL’s clients.
