CBP extends reconciliation deadline for six months    U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it has extended the time period to 21 months from 15 months for importers to file electronic information to reconcile an incomplete customs entry, as required under the Miscellaneous Trade and Technical Corrections Act of 2004 that was signed into law Dec. 3.
   As part of ongoing efforts to automate the customs process, CBP is running an open-ended prototype test of automated reconciliation filing through Customs computer system.
   Reconciliation is the process that allows an importer to flag certain items at the time of entry for which it doesn’t have complete information and plans to submit at a later date. Information can include the value of a good, some types of classification, Harmonized Tariff Schedule headings or post-entry claims.
