CN submits first railway acquisition reports    The Surface Transportation Board said this week that the Canadian National Railway Co. (CN) has filed its first compliance reports related to the railroad's acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway Co.
   The STB had required that CN file monthly operational and quarterly environmental reports during a five-year oversight period. The monthly operating report includes data detailing train volumes, accidents and incidents, and street crossing blockages. The environmental report documents CN's progress in implementing the STB's environmental mitigation conditions.
   The STB has created an oversight and monitoring Web site where the public can review CN's compliance reports and submit comments on the reports. Other information on the site includes oversight updates, copies of public comments, and background information on the acquisition with maps of the project area.
