Speakers at an RFID conference in Las Vegas Oct. 4-5 said the typical price for such labels is 17 cents, but that the technology won’t be ubiquitous until that number reaches about 5 cents.
RFID labels contain unique product information, expanding on basic barcode information, which is picked up by radio frequency readers. The technology is considered key to supply chain visibility over the next five years.
