British Airways World Cargo revenue up 3%

British Airways World Cargo revenue up 3%    British Airways World Cargo has reported commercial revenues of '615.7 million ($1.22 billion) for its financial year ended March 31, up 3 percent against the same period last year.
   The airline's full-year volume rose 4.2 percent to 4.9 billion cargo ton kilometers (CTK) with capacity, measured in available cargo ton kilometers, down 3 percent.
   Overall yield (commercial revenue per CTK) decreased by 1.2 percent. The company said that excluding exchange rate effects, yield actually increased by 0.6 percent.   
   'This slight increase in yield is due to an improved premium product mix and increased fuel surcharges largely offset by a decrease in underlying freight rates,' BA World Cargo said in a statement.
   Steve Gunning, BA World Cargo's managing director, commented: 'These are strong results, but we are under no illusions that the outlook is very challenging, especially given the trends in the fuel price, which is putting huge pressure on our business, and the global economy.'
