Other class societies approach Germanischer Lloyd

Other class societies approach Germanischer Lloyd Press reports say other classification societies are speaking to Hamburg-based Germanischer Lloyd (GL) in the wake of its decision to reject an attempt by France's Bureau Veritas to acquire a majority share in the company.
   The British newspaper Lloyds List reports that the British classification society Lloyds Register has offered to buy a minority stake in the German company, while Dubai’s Gulf News says the Norwegian society Det Norske Veritas has invited Germanischer Lloyd to talk about 'closer cooperation.'
   In November, the French classification society submitted a takeover offer, but GL's supervisory and executive boards advised against it, saying it was not in the best interest of employees or shareholders
