The port authority of Rotterdam reported that Maersk Sealand asked for a price cut of 10 percent, and P&O Nedlloyd 7.5 percent, citing the difficult situation in container shipping.
The port authority said that the requests have caused “disturbance” among truckers.
Some truckers have already seen DSM, a large Dutch chemical shipper, announce a unilateral tariff cut by 10 percent.
