Salas to replace Tagawa at Guam port authority    The former head of the Northern Marianas port authority has been named to replace outgoing Port Authority of Guam general manager Kenneth Tagawa, who resigned Jan. 30 due to undisclosed health reasons after only seven months on the job.
   Carlos Salas, former Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director, will now take the reigns of the PAG. Salas was with the CPA for more than 15 years, working as treasurer-comptroller and administrative assistant to the executive director before being named to the top executive slot in January 1998. He retired from CPA in 2005, remaining as a consultant with the port authority until last month. In June 2007, Salas was named deputy manager for the Guam International Airport Authority, a position he resigned from to serve as interim director at PAG following Tagawa's resignation.
   In his brief tenure at PAG, Tagawa was credited with laying much of the port's groundwork for development and preparation work for the shift of U.S. military forces from Okinawa to Guam starting in 2010.
