Bremerhaven terminal taking delivery of 22-wide cranes    German container terminal operator Eurogate will Saturday take delivery of four of five cranes at the Bremerhaven Stromkaje container pier as it prepares to handle an increasing number of ships with capacities in excess of 10,000 TEUs.
   The cranes, each weighing about 2,000 tons, are able to span 22 container rows on the deck of a ship with a waterside outreach of 62.5 meters. The cranes have a lifting capacity of 97 tons when fully extended. The units will arrive at the German port on the vessel Zhen Hua 8 following a 12-week journey from Shanghai. A fifth crane is due to arrive in May.
   Other Eurogate facilities that have received similar cranes include Bremerhaven Stromkaje's neighboring terminal, MSC Gate, and the under construction Eurogate Tanger container terminal in Morocco.
   'The coming years will see a major increase in the number of container vessels with a cargo capacity in excess of 10,000 TEUs at our quayages,' said Emanuel Schiffer, chairman of the Eurogate Group management board. 'As a container terminal operator and service provider for our customers, the shipping lines, we need to adapt to this situation and equip our terminals accordingly. This will not only ensure that we are set for the future but will also mean that we remain highly competitive.'
