Coast Guard refloats “Cape Flattery,” investigates towboat sinking

   The U.S. Coast Guard has successfully refloated the bulk vessel “Cape Flattery,” from a reef off the entrance of Barber’s Point Harbor in Hawaii Friday.
   Efforts to refloat the grounded vessel required the removal of fuel oil and about 9,000 metric tons of granular cement cargo, the Coast Guard said.
   The Coast Guard also continues to investigate the collision of a towboat with a bulk vessel at Donaldsonville, La., on Feb. 10. The collision involved the towboat “CSS Arkansas,” pushing seven barges, with the 737-foot Greek-flag ship “Rodon Amaradon,” transporting pig iron.
   After the collision, the towboat and a barge sank. All four crewmen of the towboat were rescued. The other barges were also recovered. The bulk ship became temporarily grounded.
