Port of Tampa plans tariff changes

Port of Tampa plans tariff changes The Port of Tampa is proposing an increase in its tariff for cars, bulk, and containerized cargoes.
The port's commissioners will consider the increase at a July 24 meeting. The port is looking at a 5 percent wharfage increase for bulk cargoes other than petroleum.
For containers, the port is considering changes in its storage and demurrage charges, with different charges and free time periods will for empties, import loaded and export loaded boxes.
For empties, there will be a charge of $1.50 per container per day after a free time period of 10 days. Loaded import containers will face a charge of $5 per container per day after a free time period of five days. That charge will increase to $12 per container after 11 days.
For export loaded containers, the charge is $1.50 per container per day after a free time period of 20 days.
The port is looking at increases in wharfage rates for new cars to $4.10, from $3.98. There will be a new category for privately owned used vehicles, which have been charged the same $3.98 rate as new cars. Effective October 1, 2006 the charge will increase to $5.60, then to $7.10 effective October 1, 2007.
For petroleum, the rate will go from $.073 to $.08. For petroleum loaded aboard vessels for bunkers, the rate would go from $.085 to $.09.
