Cargo passing through the Welland Canal was up 15.8 percent to 18.25 million tons, while the Montreal-Lake Ontario volume was 16.8 million tons, up 20.3 percent.
Vessel transits for the current navigation season are up 16.2 percent to 2,257 from 1,942.
